These Terms & Conditions apply to all participants, team captains, teams and spectators participating in Be Active Melbourne competitions, events, wellness programs and other activities.
By registering for, participating in or attending a Be Active Melbourne competition or event, you agree to comply with these Terms & Conditions, the applicable League Rules and any reasonable directions issued by Be Active Melbourne staff, venue staff or match officials.
1.1. Registration for a Be Active Melbourne competition or event constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions and the applicable League Rules.
1.2. Team captains are responsible for ensuring that all players registered to their team are aware of and comply with these Terms & Conditions and the applicable League Rules.
1.3. Be Active Melbourne reserves the right to refuse, cancel or withdraw a registration where a participant or team does not meet eligibility requirements or has previously breached these Terms & Conditions or League Rules.
1.4. Participants must provide accurate and up-to-date information when registering.
1.5. Continued participation in a competition following an update to these Terms & Conditions or League Rules constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
The team captain is the primary point of contact between Be Active Melbourne and their team and is responsible for:
Team captains are expected to make reasonable efforts to ensure their team operates in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.
3.1. All players must be registered to the relevant team through the designated Be Active Melbourne registration system prior to participating.
3.2. Players must only participate in competitions for which they are eligible.
3.3. Players who are suspended, banned or otherwise prohibited from participating must not take part in matches.
3.4. Be Active Melbourne reserves the right to verify the identity and eligibility of players.
3.5. Teams found to have knowingly used unregistered, suspended or otherwise ineligible players may be subject to penalties, including a match forfeit, loss of competition points, player suspension or removal from the competition.
3.6. Unless otherwise expressly approved by Be Active Melbourne, participants must be 18 years of age or older. Where a participant under 18 is permitted to participate with appropriate guardian approval, additional conditions may apply, including limitations to insurance coverage.
All registered participants and spectators are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful, sportsmanlike and responsible manner.

The above requirements are not exhaustive. Be Active Melbourne may take action against any conduct that it reasonably considers inappropriate, unsafe, threatening, disruptive or inconsistent with the values of the competition.
Be Active Melbourne has a zero-tolerance approach to violence and serious aggressive behaviour.
Participants must not engage in:
A participant may be immediately removed from a match or venue where their behaviour presents a safety risk.
Serious incidents may result in immediate suspension or removal from the competition, with further disciplinary action determined following review of the incident.
Retaliation or provocation by another participant does not automatically excuse aggressive or violent conduct.
Participants must not participate in Be Active Melbourne competitions or events while under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances to an extent that may affect their ability to participate safely or appropriately.
Be Active Melbourne staff may prevent a participant from participating or require them to leave the venue where they reasonably believe the participant is impaired or poses a safety risk.
No refund or credit will be provided as a result of a participant being removed from a competition or event for this reason.
7.1. Referees and match officials are responsible for managing matches and applying the relevant sporting rules.
7.2. Participants must respect referee and official decisions and must not abuse, intimidate or aggressively challenge officials.
7.3. Players wishing to raise concerns regarding officiating should do so respectfully through their team captain and/or directly with Be Active Melbourne after the match.
7.4. Be Active Melbourne may review incidents involving referees, officials or participants where appropriate.
7.5. Be Active Melbourne staff and venue managers have authority to issue reasonable directions relating to participant safety, venue operations and the conduct of competitions.
7.6. Participants must comply with reasonable directions from Be Active Melbourne staff, venue staff and officials.
8.1. Each Be Active Melbourne competition operates under specific League Rules applicable to the relevant sport and competition.
8.2. Participants are responsible for familiarising themselves with the applicable League Rules before participating.
8.3. League Rules may cover, but are not limited to:
8.4. Be Active Melbourne reserves the right to reasonably amend, clarify or introduce League Rules where necessary to ensure the safe, fair and effective operation of a competition.
8.5. Where a specific League Rule conflicts with these Terms & Conditions, these Terms & Conditions will generally take precedence unless otherwise stated.
9.1. Be Active Melbourne or match officials may suspend or abandon a match where continuing the match is considered unsafe or impractical.
This may include circumstances involving:
9.2. An abandoned match does not automatically result in a win being awarded to either team.
9.3. Be Active Melbourne will determine the appropriate outcome of an abandoned match, which may include replaying the match, recording a draw, awarding a forfeit or applying another appropriate outcome.
9.4. The result of a match and any disciplinary action arising from an incident are separate matters. Participants may be suspended or otherwise disciplined regardless of how the match result is recorded.
Teams are expected to arrive on time and be ready to participate at their scheduled match time.
Specific minimum player requirements, late-arrival periods and forfeit procedures are outlined in the applicable League Rules.
Repeated forfeits or failure to participate in scheduled fixtures may result in penalties or removal from the competition.
Team entry fees remain payable regardless of whether a team subsequently forfeits individual matches, unless otherwise determined by Be Active Melbourne.
Be Active Melbourne reserves the right to take disciplinary action against participants or teams who breach these Terms & Conditions, the Code of Conduct or applicable League Rules.
Depending on the circumstances and severity of an incident, disciplinary action may include:
Be Active Melbourne will consider the circumstances and severity of an incident when determining an appropriate outcome.
Disciplinary action may be taken based on incidents reported by referees, venue staff, Be Active Melbourne staff, participants or other credible sources.
12.1. Participants should report serious incidents, injuries, safety concerns or inappropriate behaviour to the Be Active Melbourne venue manager or staff member as soon as practicable.
12.2. Complaints regarding another participant, team, referee or venue should be raised respectfully with Be Active Melbourne.
12.3. Be Active Melbourne may investigate incidents where appropriate and may request information from relevant participants, referees, staff or other witnesses.
12.4. Be Active Melbourne may determine the appropriate outcome following an investigation.
12.5. Participants must not engage in retaliation, intimidation or harassment against another participant because they have made a complaint or provided information regarding an incident.
13.1. Participation in sporting activities involves inherent risks, including the risk of injury.
13.2. Participants are responsible for determining whether they are fit and able to participate safely.
13.3. Participants must immediately notify Be Active Melbourne staff or match officials of any injury sustained during a competition or event.
13.4. Where appropriate, an injury report will be completed at the time of the incident.
13.5. Be Active Melbourne staff or officials may prevent an injured participant from continuing to participate where they reasonably believe that doing so may place the participant or others at risk.
13.6. Participants should seek appropriate medical advice where required.
Be Active Melbourne maintains Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance and provides access to Player Accident Insurance for eligible registered participants, subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and excess applicable to the relevant insurance policy.
Player Accident Insurance provides basic and limited cover and is not comprehensive medical or private health insurance. The policy may provide cover for certain eligible non-Medicare-related expenses (such as physio), subject to the policy terms, conditions and exclusions, with eligible expenses generally covered up to a maximum of $2,000 per claim. An excess applies to claims.
Not all injuries, expenses or medical treatments are covered by the policy. Participants should review the applicable policy details and are encouraged to maintain their own private health, income protection, life or other insurance arrangements according to their individual circumstances.
Where a participant has previously suffered a serious injury or has an existing or recurring injury, re-injury or aggravation of that injury may not be covered by the Player Accident Insurance policy. Participants with a history of serious injury are encouraged to seek appropriate professional medical advice before participating.
To assist with any potential insurance claim, all injuries must be reported to Be Active Melbourne staff or match officials at the time of the incident, with an injury report completed where required.
Failure to report an injury at the time it occurs may affect a participant's eligibility to make a claim under the applicable insurance policy.
Be Active Melbourne does not determine whether an individual claim is accepted or paid. All claims are assessed by the relevant insurer in accordance with the applicable policy terms and conditions.

Be Active Melbourne may postpone, cancel, suspend or relocate matches where necessary due to:
Be Active Melbourne will make reasonable efforts to notify affected teams of changes to fixtures.
Where matches are postponed, Be Active Melbourne may reschedule fixtures during designated contingency weeks or at another suitable time.
Teams should not assume a match has been cancelled unless an official notification has been provided by Be Active Melbourne.
Be Active Melbourne may photograph, film or otherwise record competitions, matches, events and activities at its venues.
By registering for and participating in a Be Active Melbourne competition or event, participants acknowledge that they may appear in photographs, video footage or other promotional content captured by or on behalf of Be Active Melbourne.
This content may be used for legitimate promotional, marketing and communications purposes, including on:
Content may include footage of matches, teams, venues and general competition activity.
Be Active Melbourne may use this content in both organic and paid promotional material.
Participants who have a genuine concern about being photographed or filmed should contact Be Active Melbourne prior to participating so that reasonable arrangements can be considered where practicable.
Participants must wear appropriate sports clothing and enclosed sports shoes.
Netball bibs are provided to teams and must be worn during matches and returned to Be Active Melbourne following the match.
Teams are encouraged to wear matching colours. Where there is a colour clash, Be Active Melbourne may provide bibs, which must be returned following the match.
Studded footwear is not permitted at Be Active Melbourne venues.
Recommended footwear includes turf boots, indoor court shoes or suitable running shoes, depending on the venue and sport.
Participants must comply with any additional footwear or equipment requirements imposed by the relevant venue.
Participants and spectators must comply with all reasonable venue rules and instructions.
Participants must not intentionally or negligently damage venue facilities, equipment or property.
Be Active Melbourne reserves the right to remove participants or spectators from a venue where their behaviour is unsafe, disruptive or otherwise inappropriate.
Where deliberate or negligent behaviour causes damage to property, Be Active Melbourne may seek to recover the reasonable cost of the damage from the responsible participant or team.
Be Active Melbourne does not generally provide refunds for team registrations once a competition has commenced.
Where a team withdraws from a competition after the competition draw has been released, Be Active Melbourne reserves the right to charge a $100 administration fee.
Be Active Melbourne may, at its discretion, offer a credit towards a future competition instead of a refund.
Where a competition is unable to proceed, Be Active Melbourne will make reasonable efforts to provide affected teams with alternative options. Where no suitable alternative is available, Be Active Melbourne may offer a credit or refund at its discretion.
Individual player withdrawals do not automatically entitle a team or player to a refund or credit.
Be Active Melbourne collects personal information when individuals enquire, register or interact with Be Active Melbourne through its website, registration systems and social media platforms.
Information collected may include a participant's name, email address, phone number and other information required to administer competitions and events.

Be Active Melbourne may update these Terms & Conditions or applicable League Rules from time to time where reasonably necessary.
Where material changes are made, Be Active Melbourne will make reasonable efforts to communicate those changes to affected participants.
Participants are responsible for ensuring they remain familiar with the current Terms & Conditions and applicable League Rules.
Be Active Melbourne reserves the right to refuse registration, prevent participation, remove a participant from a match or venue, suspend a participant or terminate a team's participation where reasonably necessary to:
Where a participant or team is removed from a competition due to a breach of these Terms & Conditions or applicable League Rules, no refund will ordinarily be provided.
These Terms & Conditions are intended to promote a safe, fair and enjoyable sporting environment for everyone involved in Be Active Melbourne competitions and events.
Participants are expected to use common sense, act respectfully and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of others at all times.
The requirements outlined in these Terms & Conditions are not exhaustive. Be Active Melbourne reserves the right to take reasonable action in response to circumstances that may not be specifically addressed within these Terms & Conditions where necessary to protect participants, staff, venues or the integrity of the competition.
Where any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights or obligations that cannot legally be excluded, restricted or modified under applicable Australian law.
